Solo Dog Doors have been in production since 1990.

Solo Automatic Dog Door

Solo pet doors are produced in California by the original inventor, who holds patents on the internal mechanisms that set us apart from all others. However, although we offer the latest in technology, we adhere to old-school business practices. That is to say, we will be there for you, available to answer your questions and help with troubleshooting. You can contact us and actually communicate with a real person.

You’ll be able to go to work–or even on vacation–knowing that your Solo door will operate flawlessly, even in your absence. Moreover, your pet will be much happier by having the freedom to come and go as he or she pleases. As a result, everyone benefits!

Why are Solo automatic dog doors the best in the world?

Too many Web sites nowadays appear harsh, even clinical. But don’t let the friendly, easygoing appearance of our Web site fool you. Solo automatic dog doors and cat doors are meticulously crafted, using only premium materials and resulting in the finest door available anywhere. Most importantly, our doors are built to last a lifetime, and they come in sizes to fit any dog or cat, from chihuahuas to great Danes.

Small, medium, large, and extra large magnetic, door-activating tags for all pets from Chihuahuas to Great Danes.

The durable tinted Lexan® door slides open and closed via a collar tag. That is to say, your cat or dog can operate the door unattended. It automatically locks securely; therefore, you can be absent and not have to worry about your pet or home security. Our pet tags come in four sizes to accommodate all dogs & cats.

Small: e.g., Cat/Chihuahua
Medium: e.g., Beagle/Cocker Spaniel
Large: e.g., Labrador/Standard Poodle
Extra Large: e.g., Mastiff/Rottweiler/Great Dane

Keep out raccoons, rodents, people, and weather.

Solo Dog Doors keep out raccoons.

The Solo door opens when your dog or cat approaches (distance settings are adjustable), then closes after it has passed through (timing is also adjustable), secured with a sturdy locking pin, so you no longer have to be concerned that raccoons, rodents, and other pests will enter your home. The same applies to people and weather.

They’re built to last a lifetime.

This is literally true, based on a pet’s lifespan! Consequently, customers have owned our dog doors for 15 years or more and replaced only parts occasionally, due to the fact that the solid aluminum frame is permanently installed in either a wall or a human door (your choice).

Custom-made patio pet doors

We also offer dog doors that fit into your sliding patio door, rather than a wall. In other words, these doors are custom-made to exactly fit your opening height, which allows them to be securely locked and prevent unauthorized entry. Many people prefer this setup, both because it’s simple to install and because it does not require insertion into a wall or human door. But note that, after installation, your patio door’s opening will be reduced by the width of the pet door.

Because these doors are custom-made, we cannot issue a refund or return! That makes accurate measurement of your patio door’s height critical, so we walk you step-by-step through the process. Learn all about our Solo patio doors and how to take exact measurements for them.

Optional intruder alarm provides added security.

(Not available on Model 1008 or Model 1210) The Intruder Alarm is available for both regular dog doors and patio doors. Once installed, if the door remains open for more than 12 seconds, an alarm will sound for approximately 60 seconds. In addition, it will shut off and AUTOMATICALLY RESET ITSELF. As a result, you don’t even have to be home to monitor it.

Sizes to fit all

We have designed and crafted our Solo Pet Doors to fit any dog or cat, with the pet’s safety and comfort always in mind. For example, young, spry dogs can easily go in and out with a minimum of effort; however, in their later years, they may become less agile due to arthritis and/or injury. For that reason, we offer suggestions and guidelines so you can calculate the best door for your pet.

A good way to determine the proper opening size is to measure your dog’s or cat’s height and width (we explain how), then use a cardboard cutout to simulate an actual door. In addition, putting a treat on the other side of the “door” will provide incentive for your pet to pass through the opening. Get in-depth door size details.

Features

A look “under the hood” will reveal the advanced technology that makes a Solo dog door so special. For example, a sturdy locking mechanism, patented by the company’s owner, allows the door to slide open easily when activated by a collar sensor, but automatically locks it firmly in the closed position until once again activated by your pet. In other words, this gives you peace of mind, knowing that only your dog or cat can come and go, and relieving you of the necessity of being present. Learn more about door features.

Door Prices

We have no competitors with the same-quality product and variety of sizes, so price comparisons mean little. Our doors arrive fully assembled and ready to install, and we include one collar tag free of charge; consequently, your pet can begin using the door as soon as it’s installed.

Solo doors are, as you might expect, priced according to size. Likewise, that’s the case with other doors. If you’re just looking for a cheap, flapping door that will have to be replaced in a couple of years, Solo dog doors and cat doors are not right for you. On the other hand, if you want a door that will last the lifetime of your pet, lock securely, operate unattended, and keep out intruders, nothing can compare to a Solo Pet Door. Replacement parts

Here is the real beauty of owning a Solo dog door or cat door. You no longer have to replace your door every few years. In short, if a part breaks or wears out, you simply order that part by itself and install it easily. As a result, many of our customers have owned their doors for more than 15 years.

The most common replacement parts by far are collar tags. But that makes sense because a dog can rub up against something and dislodge the tag from its collar. Although the tags are waterproof and operate magnetically, cats, in particular, are notorious for losing tags–along with their collars.

We have provided a detailed diagram that shows every part, where it belongs, and its proper nomenclature, so that makes it a cinch to find and order the exact item. Take a closer look at the door parts diagram.
